The Lodge is the HEART of Girls' Camp

Lots has changed at Camp Mini-Yo-We over the years, but the Girls’ Camp Lodge has stayed virtually the same for the majority of our existence. Perched on top of the hill with that incredible view down to Mary Lake, this lodge is more than just a building; it feels like a home for so many who call this community a family. Watch this video to learn how your generous gift to the 2021 Christmas Campaign will make a difference for years to come!

Have you ever stopped and asked yourself … where do the campers at Camp Mini-Yo-We spend the largest portion of their time during their days at camp?

Outside of sleeping, they don’t spend much time in their cabins because there is so much to do at camp!

All of our campers rotate through activities during the day, so they’re never in one spot for too long.

We’re sure some of them wish they could spend more time at the tuck shop, but that’s not it!

If you were to plot on a pie chart where our Girls’ Camp campers spend their time, the Lodge would be the biggest slice of the pie.

In a lot of ways, the Girls’ Camp Lodge is the heart of the Girls’ Camp experience. It’s the place many great activities take place every week at camp, including:

  • Welcoming campers (old and new!) on opening day.
  • Singing and dancing after meals.
  • Worshipping the Lord at the kick-off bible time and small groups.
  • Practicing skits with their drama instruction..
  • Team huddles with our team.
  • Playing games indoors on a rainy day.
  • Hugging friends after breakfast on the last day.
  • And of course, three meals a day!

THE GIRLS’ CAMP LODGE NEEDS YOUR HELP THIS SEASON

There are two critically important items that your generous gift before December 31st, 2021 will help address.

Replace the Leaky Roof // Late last spring it became obvious that we had a number of holes in the roof of the Lodge. At one point there were 15+ buckets scattered around the floor of the building attempting to catch the rain! Our facility team sprang into action and put a giant blue tarp over the majority of the roof to temporarily stop the water from doing any more damage. Your gift at Christmas this year will help us get the entire roof replaced, so by the time spring comes around, we will be able to get rid of the tarps and keep our campers dry.

Repair the Fireplace // In 2019, we had all of our fireplaces inspected. We were particularly concerned that the fireplace in the Girls’ Camp Lodge operates safely. (We don’t want a stray ember to cause irreparable fire damage!) In the end, the fireplace was condemned. We have been unable to use it on those chilly Muskoka mornings. Your generous gift this Christmas season will help us repair the fireplace and have welcoming, safe fires next summer.

It’s critically important to fully fund these two projects in the Girls’ Camp Lodge before December 31st, 2021, so our team can move forward with confidence towards next spring. Your timely gift this month will serve campers for years to come. Thank you in advance for your generosity.

YOUR GENEROUS GIFT TO THE CHRISTMAS CAMPAIGN IS GOING TO MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE.

Not only will your gift to the Camp Mini-Yo-We 2021 Christmas Campaign fund these improvements to the Lodge, it will also contribute towards some exciting improvements to our waterfront at Girls’ Camp.

BRAND NEW DOCKS AND WATERFRONT

The waterfront has always been a core part of our campers’ experience at Mini-Yo-We. Your gift will enable us to complete a multi-year project to reconstruct all our waterfronts to make them even more fun and safe. The Girls’ Camp waterfront is where memories that last a lifetime are made. Thank you in advance for helping improve this area!

The financial goal for Camp Mini-Yo-We’s 2021 Christmas Campaign is $105,000, in order to help fund the waterfront project and our work on the Lodge. A generous donation at this time of year would be greatly appreciated. When you’re ready to donate, you can do so in multiple ways:

100% of your donations to Camp Mini-Yo-We are tax-deductible. Please give before midnight on December 31st, 2021, to receive a receipt for this tax year.

As we say at Girls’ Camp—Thanks for the day, comrades!
