All adult volunteers at Camp Mini-Yo-We must apply and agree to abide by our Guidelines for Community Living them while serving on our team.

Certain volunteers leading volunteer teams (such as Head Cooks) must also hold to our Statement of Shared Beliefs, which covers the foundational truths we require people on mission with us to agree to.

Food Services & Facility Volunteers

Operations volunteers receive $325 off per camper after their application is processed.

• This discount will be removed if we do not receive all required documentation including your volunteer application, reference(s) and criminal record check.
• This discount CAN be combined with our early bird discounts as well as our sibling discount.
• This discount does not apply to Day Camps.
• If combined with other discounts, the maximum discount a camper can receive off the cost of Camp is 75% off.

Medical Volunteers

Medical volunteers receive $650 off per camper after their application is processed.

• This discount will be removed if we do not receive all the required documentation including your volunteer application, reference(s) and criminal record check.
• If combined with other discounts, the maximum discount a camper can receive off the cost of Camp is 75% off.

Many of the volunteers serving on our team are the parents or grandparents of campers!

Children Ages 5-16

Children who will be age 5 or older by December 31 in the year served must be registered in one of our week-long overnight programs. Register online for summer camp.

Children Ages 4 or Younger

The Grasshopper program is a free daycare service for volunteers run by our summer staff that takes care of children during volunteer work hours. Children from a volunteer's immediate family may enroll if they will be under the age of 5 by December 31 AND are toilet-trained. Volunteers are responsible for dropping off and picking up their children each day and staying with them overnight in their volunteer accommodation. Register online for Grasshoppers.

FAQ: Can my child do Day Camp and stay with me in my accommodation in the evening?

Due to limited volunteer accommodations and conflicting schedules, children age 5 and older must be registered in a week-long overnight summer program. This allows us to provide the best possible experience for all of our campers.

After we receive your application, a member of our team will contact you regarding the paperwork required to volunteer at Camp. This includes references as well as the following:

Vulnerable Sector Check

Camp Mini-Yo-We is entrusted with the care of many children each summer and we are committed to providing a safe environment. We take the hiring of our staff and volunteers very seriously. We require a clear Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) on file for all volunteers.

• New Volunteers: All new volunteers are required to submit a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) from their local police service.
• Returning Volunteers: In addition to having an initial VSC on file, we require a new criminal record check every 5 years from returning volunteers. We will let you know if you need to provide a new check and send you instructions to obtain this free of charge online through MyBackCheck.

AODA Training

We are required to have all volunteers receive AODA (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities) training. If you are a first-time volunteer, you can complete our AODA module online. If you have already received AODA training with us, you don't need to do it again as we will have it on file.

Food Safety Certification

Head Cooks (i.e., not all cooks) are required to get food safety certification to lead a kitchen in the summer. Mini-Yo-We will pay for the online training course. We will follow up with additional information if you are serving in this capacity.
