With Easter unfolding around us and a few submissions looking at one Psalm, Psalm 46. Over the Easter Weekend, we will walk with Jesus through his death, the long quiet Saturday, and the glorious resurrection. Join us as we reflect on Psalm 46. As we continue.
Today’s reflection is from Michelle Little. Michelle is our Director of Summer Programs and oversees all aspects of our summer.
Today’s Reading: Psalm 46
Immanuel. God is with us. The prophets heard and sang who He would be.
Immanuel. God is with us. The Creator stepped into His Creation. The One who first sparked Light and first breathed Life, stepped into what was broken through the Fall and through every fall, to reignite and to breathe anew.
In the beginning was the Word. And the Word was with God, and the Word was God… In Him was life, and that life was the Light of all mankind. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness cannot overcome it… the Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us.
John 1
Immanuel. God is with us.
Immanuel. God is still with us. This eternal truth scrawled in the most temporary of mediums by a tender-young heart wholly bound to His love speaks volumes of inexplicable peace.
His light is still shining in the darkness. And the darkness will not ever overcome it.
God is with us. Still.
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear
Though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea
Though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging
There is a river whose streams make glad the City of God
The holy place where the Most High dwells
God is within her, she will not fall
God will help her at the break of day
Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall
Yet – He lifts his voice, and the earth melts
The Lord Almighty is with us
The God of Jacob is our fortress
Come and see what the Lord has done
The desolations He has brought on the earth
He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth
He breaks the bow and shatters the spear
He burns the shields with fire
He says
Be still, and know that I am God
I will be exalted among the nations
I will be exalted in the earth
The Lord Almighty is with us
The God of Jacob is our fortress
Psalm 46
With love,
Michelle
