With Easter unfolding around us and a few submissions looking at one Psalm, Psalm 46. Over the Easter Weekend, we will walk with Jesus through his death, the long quiet Saturday, and the glorious resurrection. Join us as we reflect on Psalm 46. As we continue.
Today’s reflection comes from Patrick Sutherland. He is the Director of Discovery camp and the Director of Discipleship.
Today’s Reading: Psalm 46
God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.
-Psalm 46:1
Today is the Saturday that lays between.
We live between Good Friday and the resurrection.
We live in the tension of hope dying and not yet reborn.
It was a brief moment where the world seemed bigger than God.
I want to believe in miracles.
I want to know what it looks like to see wars cease. Big wars between nations and the little wars in me.
But on the Saturday that lays between I can’t help but find myself walking with the disciples. Hiding from the world, denying the hope they once believed in, and getting ready to go back to the way things were.
Life is full of Saturdays that lay between; of moments where our world crumbles, our understanding is lost, and we feel isolated, alone, and confused.
But…
Every Saturday leads into Sunday.
Every Saturday breaks with the morning.
Every Saturday, in the quiet and the stillness, leads to the revelation of an ever-present help.
Of a God who was there on Friday when hope died.
Of a God who was with you on the Saturday that lays between.
Of a God who, despite all odds, can raise the dead.
There is a hope that stands the test of time,
That lifts my eyes beyond the beckoning grave,
To see the matchless beauty of a day divine
When I behold His face!
When sufferings cease and sorrows die,
And every longing satisfied.
Then joy unspeakable will flood my soul,
For I am truly home.

A Digital Refresh is a regular series for the staff at Mini-Yo-We.
When we gather together for worship and learn from God’s word we call it “Refresh.” Even though we aren’t at camp we can still gather together to share God’s word through a Digital Refresh.
