Great news: Adam Truax will be Camp Mini-Yo-We’s Leadership Pathway Director starting February 3! This position is a new take on the Summer Programs Director role. In addition to managing our summer programs, Adam will focus on developing and discipling young leaders on Spring Crew and summer staff as well as our interns. Enterprise and Leaders In Training (LIT) campers will also benefit from his oversight of their programs. Adam joins Camp’s senior leadership in ensuring we carry out our mission to develop tomorrow’s leaders through life-changing adventures in God’s creation.
After spending over a decade church planting and engaging the lost in downtown Toronto, Adam and his family moved to Huntsville last year and have been putting down roots in the community. He has a background in marketing and experience mentoring teams and leaders. Building models and painting miniature figures for Warhammer is his fun side gig! When not chipping away at his Master of Divinity at Wycliffe College, Adam enjoys listening to indie rock and reading—the Bible, of course—but he also recommends Dallas Willard’s The Divine Conspiracy and The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis. He loves playing board games with friends and some chaotic Throw Throw Burrito with his family.
Adam is married to Emily, and they have two daughters: Blakely (8) and Lennon (5). Emily manages Christine’s Place, a pregnancy and family support centre in Huntsville. The girls will be overnight campers for the first time this year! Adam predicts Blakely will jump right in and be belting out songs, while Lennon is quieter but a joker once she warms up. The whole family will live onsite at Camp this summer. They’re all new to Mini-Yo-We but Adam was a camper with the Air Cadets in the past. With a heart for discipleship and preparing leaders to seek adventure as they follow Jesus, he was attracted by our mission and looks forward to fulfilling it.
