All adult volunteers at Camp Mini-Yo-We must apply and agree to abide by our Guidelines for Community Living them while serving on our team.

Certain volunteers leading volunteer teams (such as Head Cooks) must also hold to our Statement of Shared Beliefs which covers the foundational truths we require people on mission with us to agree to.

Food Service & Facility Volunteers

Operations Volunteers will receive $325 off per camper as soon as their application is processed.

• This discount will be removed if we do no receive all required documentation including your volunteer application, reference(s) and police check.
• This discount CAN be combined with our early bird discounts as well as our sibling discount.
• This discount does not apply to Day Camps.
• If combined with other discounts, the maximum discount a camper can receive off the cost of Camp is $650.00.

If you are not a parent but would like to apply the discount to another camper please let the volunteer coordinator know and we can make up a certificate for you to give to another family!

Medical Team Volunteers

Medical Volunteers will receive $650 off per camper as soon as their application is processed.

• This discount will be removed if we do no receive all the required documentation including your volunteer application, reference(s) and police check.
• If combined with other discounts, the maximum discount a camper can receive off the cost of Camp is $650.00.

If you are not a parent but would like to apply the discount to another camper please let the volunteer coordinator know and we can make up a certificate for you to give to another family!

Volunteers are encouraged to experience camp alongside their children. Many of the adults that join our volunteer team are the parents or grandparents of children who are in camp or will be in the near future! Here are some details as you think about this opportunity.

Children Ages 5-17

Children who will turn 5 before December 31 of this year must be registered in one of our week-long overnight programs. You can register for summer camp online.

Children Ages 4 or Younger

The Grasshopper Program is a free day-care service for volunteers run by our summer staff that takes care of children during volunteer work hours. Children from a volunteer's immediate family can be enrolled as a grasshopper if they will be under the age of 5 by December 31 AND are toilet-trained.  You will be responsible for dropping off and picking up your child each day, as well as staying with them overnight in your volunteer accommodation. You can register for grasshoppers online.

FAQ: Can my child ages 5 or older do Day Camp and stay with me in my accommodation in the evening?

Due to limited accommodations and conflicting schedules, all children that are ages 5 or older must be registered in a week-long overnight summer program. This allows us to provide the best possible experience for our campers throughout the summer.

After completing your application, a member of our team will send you an email with additional paperwork required to volunteer at Camp. This includes the following:

Vulnerable Sector Check

Camp Mini-Yo-We is entrusted with the care of many children each summer and we are committed to providing a safe environment. We take the hiring of our staff and volunteers very seriously. We require a clear Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) on file for all volunteers.

• New Volunteers: ALL new volunteers are required to submit a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) from their local police station for us to review and add to your volunteer file.
• Returning Volunteers: In addition to having a VSC on file, we require a new Police Check to be provided by returning volunteers every five years. Our Volunteer Coordinator will let you know if you need to provide an updated police check for this upcoming summer. Please note that this can be obtained online through MyBackCheck (we will send you instructions) or at a local police station.

AODA Training

We are required to have all volunteers receive Camp Mini-Yo-We AODA (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities) training. If you are a first-time volunteer you can complete our online AODA module on this website. If you have already received AODA training for Camp you don't need to do it again as we will have it on file.

Food Handler's Certificate

Head Cooks (note: not all cooks) are required to get their Hood Handler's Certificate to lead at kitchen in the summer. Camp will pay for this training and the Volunteer Coordinator will follow up with additional information if you are serving in this capacity.
