A Year in Review

Camp MYWBlog

We’ve had an amazing year at Camp Mini-Yo-We!

As we looked back over 2017 we wanted to highlight just a few of things that made us smile as a team. Check it out!

In JANUARY we launched into 2017 strong with two year-end celebrations. We had registered 1000 campers before December 31 AND surpassed our Christmas Campaign goal for last year! Even more exciting is that for 2018 we hit the 1000 mark before the end of November (over a month earlier)!

In FEBRUARY we recorded and launched The Mini-Yo-We Mom’s Podcast! We got together a panel of moms from camper families and had them tackle questions in a roundtable format to help first-time parents find out more about Camp. You can listen to the first 6 episodes on our website. Stay tuned for season 2 over the next few months!

In MARCH our Mini-Yo-We interns spent 3 days at the Cottage Life Show in Toronto providing childcare to over 200+ kids. It’s tiring but an incredibly rewarding weekend and a great way to introduce new families to what we’re all about. If you’re at the show this year (March 22-25) make sure you stop by and say hello!

In APRIL we launched the Mini-Yo-We Alumni Association, a new way for friends of Camp to support us and stay connected throughout the year. We’re now putting out a quarterly magazine with alumni profiles, news and updates, running multiple alumni events and more! Find out more at www.campmyw.com/alumni.

In MAY we hosted our annual Open House on property with hundreds of guests wanting to know more about our summer programs! It’s a day to connect with staff, tour the facility and try Camp activities. You can RSVP for our 2018 open house today at www.campmyw.com/openhouse.

In JUNE we kicked off two weeks of summer staff training where we equipped an incredible group of young people with the leadership abilities and skills necessary for the summer. The length of our training is above and beyond what the average camp does and for Summer 2018 we’re introducing new elements to the experience to even take it a notch above that.

In JULY we realize just how much parents loved social media. We really leaned into Facebook and Instagram this summer posting photos every day and keeping parents engaged with videos and live updates throughout the week. We had 300,000+ engagements on Facebook over these 30 days!

In AUGUST we finally cracked the 2000 camper barrier for the first time in 71 years! We welcomed more individual campers in Summer 2017 than we have in any other year… it was an exciting moment for our team. We’re even further ahead for next year, but there’s still a little space so head over to www.campmyw.com/register to sign up.

In SEPTEMBER we began the Outdoor Centre season with the largest group of interns ever! We have 4 international interns from Germany and 7 Canadians working alongside our two Community Life Directors. The first three months have been fantastic!

In OCTOBER we released leadership applications for Enterprise 2018 and Leaders in Training 2018! These programs are foundational to our mission: developing tomorrow’s leaders through life-changing adventures in God’s creation. If you know a youth ages 14-17 looking to grow in their faith and leadership abilities tell them to check it out!

In NOVEMBER we launched a brand new website at www.campmyw.com! There are a bunch of new features including live capacity updates, new pictures and a mobile-first design so it looks great on cellphones & tablets. Check it out!

In DECEMBER our second annual Christmas Campaign kicked off with the ambitious goal of raising $135,000 before the end of the year! Stay tuned for an update in the next few weeks but we are blown away by the generosity of our community. There’s still time to give at www.campmyw.com/christmas if you want to support our goal!

Want to help us launch into 2018 strong?

Here are a few ways you can support us as we had into this next season of ministry!

  1. Celebrate with us! If you’re encourage by our Year in Review blog share it on social media or forward it on to a friend in an email. We love to celebrate but even more so, we love to celebrate with friends of Mini-Yo-We!
  2. Spread the word about Camp! The number one way we grow as a ministry is through the word-of-mouth of our friends. Perhaps you know a family who would benefit from a Mini-Yo-We experience this summer or are connected with past alumni that could get plugged in again as supporters in this upcoming season of ministry. Help us grow by spreading the word about Camp Mini-Yo-We!
  3. Support these new initiatives! We know technically it’s past December 31st but we can still use your support to push us past our goal of $135,000 for this year’s Christmas Campaign! Making an online gift is secure and simple at www.campmyw.com/christmas.
