What a joy to begin a new chapter in my life and the life of our family as the Girls Camp director and Director of Team Development here at Mini-yo-we! I have been around camp life for many years starting with Onondaga Camp, then my experience at Ontario Pioneer Camp, where I first met Jesus. I carried on to complete LIT, cabin lead, section head, and eventually LIT small group leading. After graduating university with a BA in Spanish and International Development, I moved with my husband Paul Munnings to Nova Scotia where we continue to serve in youth ministry, as well as some time at a camp out east known as Malagash Bible Camp. During our 6.5 years living in Nova Scotia we grew our family…adding 4 kids to the mix and a dog! We also began our homeschool journey which has continued for over 10 years.
After moving back to Ontario in 2010, we added one last baby to our small army and settled into a small town South East of Hamilton, on 3 acres of land where the kids could run free and climb trees. We found ourselves back at Pioneer camp, as a family in 2016 together serving as a family with LIT as the Program coordinator (Paul) and Bible teacher (Shelley). The following year we had the opportunity to lead the Northwoods Trip here at Mini-Yo-We! It is with absolute awe and delight of God’s purposeful planning that we look forward to settling in with Mini-Yo-We and serving full time on staff here as Girls Camp Director and Director of Team development.
Okay the fun stuff…when I’m not homeschooling my kids you can find me at my “Mom’s ballet class”, playing womens’ indoor soccer, teaching piano lessons, coaching kids sports, dancing and singing in a musical, leading worship at church or playing board games – no seriously, if you come for a visit you WILL have to play a game! Our family loves to sit around and enjoy a good meal together, we love to read, and learn new things (insert ballet lessons, oh MAN! It’s more challenging that you may think!). We all love to be outside in the sunshine and meeting new people! And most importantly, I LOVE a good BIG mug of dark roast coffee (yes there’s a difference). God transformed my life at the age of 12 and I feel it is such a privilege to work alongside young women to help them invest in the next generation to know Jesus! Camp is a unique and wonderful time in people’s lives and being on staff to make that a reality for as many campers and staff as possible is truly a hearts calling and dream come true for me! Thank you for joining us on this adventure and we look forward to what God has in store for each of us this summer and the summer’s to come!
