Leap of Faith Episode 4: Find God’s Purpose for Your Life – Part 1 – Connecting the Dots

Camp MYW

Hello hello, I hope I find you well today!

Over the next few weeks we are going to dive deep into a topic that is always on the mind:
What is the will of God for your life? Where are you going? What are you doing? Why?

There are two really solid answers to this question that are really the first step to getting clarity on God’s will for your life:

The first is the Bible.

If you want to know what God wants for you the best place to go is to scripture. There you will learn about who God is and what he desires for you. A great way to do that is to continue with the Community Bible Experience. Send me a text or email and I will send you the reading guide for this fall (its never to late to start).

The second is the Holy Spirit’s leading on your life:

Get praying about your future. God is so interested in who you are and who you are becoming and taking the time to pray, to be in communication with God is a great way of being up to date on God’s will for your life.

But what if you want to get more specific?

While you wait and dive into the word and get connected with the Spirit: What can you do to explore God’s will more specifically over your life? That’s what we are going to talk about for the next few weeks. To start let’s jump into Ephesians 2:10 to find the big idea:

For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. – Eph 2:10

Consider this word “Workmanship.” A few other words that get used here: masterpiece, handiwork, Mastercraft, treasure, showpiece, perfect work. You are God’s workmanship.

In other words, God has already begun to work in you for the future.
You are a collection of strengths and of ideas. You have a unique heart and perspective on the world. You are a masterpiece prepared for God’s good work.

However, it is hard to know your future. Check out what Steve Jobs once said about his future:

“You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in the future. You have have to trust in something – your guts, destiny, life, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.” – Steve Jobs

Here’s the thing: regardless of how clear you feel about your life today God has made you as a masterpiece to do good things. You may not always feel like you know what that is but the dots will be connected over time.

For now:

Trust that God has begun to put the pieces together for your life.
You are already a work in progress toward that end.
You can be confident that God will connect the dots.

We are going to look closer at how you can begin to connect the dots or maybe just start finding some of the dots that will connect as you find out more about what God’s plan for your life is.

Remember you are God’s masterpiece and God is already working in you to prepare you for the future.

My task for you today is to believe it. You are God’s masterpiece and God is working in you to prepare you for your future.

If you are looking to explore this in greater detail keep listening over the month as we go deeper on how you can start to see who God has made you to be. In the meantime, if you want to talk about your life, your purpose, or really anything your directors are here to chat. You can reach me at pat@miniyowe.com.

You may have been listening in today and wondered if you had what it takes to serve God. You may have thought: Pat’s probably talking to someone else, some of those other people who had it all together. Nope. I’m talking about all of us. You are a masterpiece even if you don’t feel it or see it. You brought so much to our team this summer and we think you are amazing. Never forget it.

Take care friends.
